Uhhh...lieutenant governor nominee Anthony Brown is black.  Or does being of Jamaican/Swiss parentage not count as such?

"Puppies vs. issues" could be descriptive of Cardin/Steele debates, if and when they occur.  Cardin may be a "plodding" speaker at times, but he has a solid record of accomplishment and generally popular issue positions.  Steele may have more oratorical flair, but usually it's in the service of vague platitudes and evasions of tough questions on the issues.  (I wonder, though, if enough people will pay attention to debates for them to really affect the race much.)
