Will you be supporting Lincoln Chafee?

My answer is no, I was going through some senate vote records and I can't find a close bill where he votes with the Republicans.  He seems to have been angered by his close primary and is challenging the party more than ever.  It seems every vote he casts is a protest against the Republican party.  I seriously think he does a lot more hurt than help.  I therefore cannot support him, but I really cannot support Sheldon Whitehouse, so my current endorsement:

NO ONE

What do conservatives think about this race?

I am rooting for Whitehouse with a bad taste in my mouth

Don't care but if I absolutely had to pick between the two I'd go with Chafee only because our majority would be on the line...which likely doesn't matter anyway since he'd betray us.

If I recall correctly, isn't Chafee a supporter of the Patriot Act?

That is a ridiculous statement. At this point in a very close race, either candidate could win.

How is "conservative" defined?  Is George W Bush a conservative?

The average of your political matrix has a plus sign. I don't think you qualify. Smiley

Really? He could have fooled me by leading in every recent poll and getting more votes then Chafee and Laffey combined in the primary.

He used to be an Independent, then a Democrat, then an Independent again, and now finally a Libertarian.  All these changes in the last four months.

And all the while he's really been a Republican.

Mostly just avatar changes. My stint with the Democratic Party was mostly just realisation of why I was never one of them to begin with. From what I hear, you're political clone has undergone this same sort of thing numerous times.

Who are you talking about when you say "political clone"?  Frodo? Josh22? Jim Webb?

Anywho, I liked having you in the Democratic Party (the more Texans the better), and you're always welcome should you decide to return.

For the sake of manners, I will not mention names. I'll just say that a certain populist has as well had problems making up his mind. I guess the forum needed a Libertarian flip-flopper to balance it out. Tongue

Anyways, I'm glad at least one person appreciated my presence...however, to many arguments with people at the meetings over effective economics and smoking bans drew me over the edge.

No its just not what a libertarians should be. There arent ranges of libertarianism, thats why we have the two major parties which have ranges. You either have government not interfere to be libertarian or do and your not. Your social says your not.

Well, you seem to think that there's only one kind of Republican, given your constant put-down's toward all moderate/progressive Republicans (except for Tom Kean).

No, this is something I am continually misquoted on, the Republican party needs moderates not RINOs.

I think I may have posted this close to 10 times but:

Moderate=disagreements w/party, supports national party and candidates
RINO=major objective to try and reform party, doesn't support party candidates

Frankly since Libertarians aren't really winning many elections, there can't be LINOs
