According to the Drudge Report, the IM's were a prank orchestrated by two conservative pages.  The information was passed around to a small number of pages, but eventually the IM's ended up in Democrat friendly hands.

Having passed on this information, I think it's too late for this to matter now.

There is already a thread on this in the General Discussion thread.  I think that is the best place to continue the discussion.

Why would he resign over a joke?

I've got an island in Hawaii I'd like to sell you.

Drudge is a joke.  It's a good site for non-political news, but his spin is farcical.

I remember once he slammed all over Al Gore for driving a half mile to the premeire of An Inconvenient Truth at Cannes rather than walking, the hypocrisy and all that.  But then it turned out that Gore actually walked, and made a big deal out of the walking, so the article was the result of a blatant lie.  Drudge retracted the smear, but never apologized, and while the original article was a big headline, the retraction was a minor blurb.

I'm sure the retraction of this BS will be a small headline as well.

^^^^

If it weren't real, Foley wouldn't have resigned within hours of the story breaking.  Use your brains, rightists.

We already have a topic about this (although this one is less...heated).

I don't see why the interest level of the boys he was coming onto is relevant.

Alright Matt Drudge, what have you been smoking and should I report you to the authorities?

As everyone before has said why would he resign if it was a prank? He wouldn't. End of story. Drudge is losing his edge if this is the best way he thinks to spin this story.

Can we please continue this line of discussion in the other thread.  No sense carrying on parallel discussions.

I don't think it matters that it was a prank, unless Foley knew it was a prank, and was in on the joke. Am I missing something here?

How can I lose credibilty.  I just passed along what Drudge was reporting.  Personally, I don't think it makes any difference that the pages were playing a prank on Foley.  All that matters in this case are Foley's actions.  Not once in any of my posts, have I tried to minimize what has happened in this situation.  If you want to read fantasy that derserves no credibility, read some of the comments made by readers at Polipundit.
