All the tv spots I've seen have been for a specific candidate. Would it be a good idea for Dems and the Reps to run ads, encouraging people to identify with their party. They could highlight their party's acheivements or even attack the other party's failures. With more and more voters identifying as independants, wouldn't this be more fruitful than having to run so many ads for each candidate year after year?

Possibly so. Thats what could benefit Dems. ALL polls have shown that issues after issue, that most Americans take liberal positions or would most identify with Dems.
