I still have no idea why Edwards is running so high. Is he still popular in Democratic circles for some completely senseless reason?

Umm, he has a lot of support. If Gore doesn't run, it could quickly come down to a 2 way Hillary vs. Edwards race.

Considering what a joke Edwards was during the 2004 Campaign, I'm surprised many democrats still wanna see him.

How was he a joke?  His resume is short but he makes up for it with charisma.  He'd have a chance against a conservative.

I don't really think so. The man was all charisma but no substance, no policies, and that two America's crap was the winner he thought it would be. If anything that election showed what a light-weight Edwards really was and he would still be a light-weight in 2008. I believe he would be a really horrible pick for the Democratic Party.

There's more to it than charisma. You need to be ready to be a commander in Chief. That's why the democrats in tv and film will usually represent the Democrat as a handsome, young candidate and the Republican as an old white haired military tough guy...because they think that if they look good they will stand a chance. Dick Cheney is a good example of how you can be unappealing, unelectable, but a good President or Vice President.
