He's endorsed Prop. 87 here in California. Prop. 87 would make oil companies pay drilling fees to California, like they do for other states. The money would be used to fund alternative energy.

That was a great ad....straightforward and to the point, and a great argument.

I'm getting excited about a Gore '08 run.

The public did not like Gore's personality (same goes for Kerry).  And they will quickly tire of him.  The public will give Gore very little slack.

Speaking of Kerry, no one liked the fact that he went to Vietnam for the sole purpose of filming his exploits so that he could on day become President.  Kerry is the worst of the worst, he only cares about himself and the public discerned that fact.

I would vote for Hillary or Gore before I would vote for Kerry (or Clark).

I personally think that Gore is one of the weakest candidates the Dems could put up for 2008.

For starters, he isn't the less than fiery vice-president he was 6 years ago. He has now converted to a one issue, environazi, whackjob. People usually don't fall head over heels for one-issue candidates, especially in what will be an election centered around fixing a myriad of problems.

Then you get into the 2000 election. Like it or not Democrats, Gore ***lost*** the 2000 election. Most people accepted this truth after the first recount showed a Bush victory...unfortunately, Gore isn't most people. He showed NO class in the aftermath of the election.

All in all...Gore just couldn't put up a Dem win in 2008. Which is why I might be cheering for him if the direction of the Democratic Party doesn't change soon.

Gore/Hillary 2008!

Gore has been consistently anti-Bush, which will be vital if the political state of the union is similar to now.  He's also been the main face in the environment issue, which is gaining steam in the public.  It would be an awful mistake for the Republicans to underestimate him.

Ah, but which of the Three Gore's is it? If he does run, a combination of Gore The First and Gore The Third seems likely; Gore The Second is probably dead and buried.

I've been thinking about this - I don't actually think Gore will run in '08, simply because of Hillary. Chances are that Hillary will win the nomination in 2008, lose to McCain, leaving Gore the freedom to try for and win the Democratic nomination in 2012. At least that's my theory.

Gore won. Get over it.

Hillary is over-rated. I'm not saying that she doesn't have a chance at the nomination, but she's over-rated.

I have this theory that there are in fact three Al Gore's; populist Gore, DLC Gore and envirolefty Gore.

As long as there's none of this 2nd Gore, we should be in good shape.

I'm not a Gore fan, but I'll say it was a good ad-now if only he could appear warmer and less wooden...

lol, the second Gore is what got him onto the 1992 ticket, the first Gore was the guy we saw in the 2000 election, and the third Gore has been the Gore since 2000.

Personally, I like all three of them. The first Gore gets in the Democratic base, the second Gore gets in the moderates, and the third Gore gets in the lefties.

Unfortunately, the public has caught onto the fact that there are Three Gores, and most Republicans would have no problem running a fresh face against a tired, old Democratic hand like Gore.  (Now, if we nominate McCain, most of Gore's negatives are balanced by the fact that McCain...er, shares them.)

As for jfern's comments, he is simply embracing the idea of a multiverse, where there are multiple dimensions and timelines.  For instance, under this theory, jfern is perfectly correct is saying that Al Gore was the President.  In Timeline A-22, Gore was elected in 1992 against George Bush, Sr. and served one term before being defeated by Colin Powell and Newt Gingrich in the 1996 election.  In Timeline 80083-B, Gore won the state of Florida in the 2000 election, and proceeded to embark on a moderate to liberal course as President, and was narrowly re-elected in 2004 by focusing on the terrorism issue and President Gore's response to the 9/11 attacks.

Of course, if we're talking about the current timeline, then jfern is simply spouting off a bunch of nonsense and has no grasp of the 2000 presidential election, the recounts in Florida, or the Bush v. Gore decision.

I can't believe anyone thinks that! Do you not realize how absurd it sounds to say that someone joined the army to go to Vietnam so they could run for President in some unknown time decades in the future?

"Kerry arrived in Vietnam with a strong anti-Vietnam War bias and a self-serving determination to build a foundation for his political future." - Admiral Roy Hoffman was the commander of the Coastal Surveillance Force Vietnam in 1968-1969, he was the overall commander of U.S. Swift Boats during the period of Kerry's Vietnam coastal service.

Those don't logically follow. If you go by offifical results, Saddam got 99.99% of the vote in his elections.

I guess I'd rather be sworn-in as President than declared victor by jfern. I bet Gore would too.
