Thanks for the link, Jfern. I needed a laugh. Cheesy

The original Wash Post story and now this one are an attempt to set the stage. The Wash Post story suggested Bush and Rove are delusional for believing the Republicans will hold onto Congress. If (big if) the Dems win, watch out for the MSM to seriously accuse the President of being mentally imbalanced and call for his removal.

I kid you not...

Removed from office? rofl

I'll stick with the reported overconfidence of Bush and Rove. They've got LEGITIMATE polling the MSM and these "Republican insiders" (probably a bunch of RINOs like George Will or Ed Rollins) aren't privy to. The president and Rove have a reason for their reported optimism...

George Will is a RINO?

President Bush and Karl Rove said that we will keep both Houses of Congress, and I believe them. We will win my FRiend Smiley

Denial ain't just a river in Egypt...

One point worth making: The gap in approval ratings between Bush and Clinton is a bit exaggerated because of the particular polls you chose to include.  You're comparing Bush in early Oct. 2006 with Clinton in late Oct. 1994.  RCP has Bush's average approval rating at 38.8% right now.  As seen in this polling archive:

http://www.ropercenter.uconn.edu/cgi-bin/hsrun.exe/Roperweb/PresJob/PresJob.htx;start=HS_fullresults?pr=Clinton

Clinton was in the low-mid 40's in early Oct. 1994, then went up to about 48-49% in late October, and then down to about 46 in early November at the time of the election.  (This is averaging together all the polls, rather than just using Gallup.)  So yes, Bush is less popular now than Clinton was in October 1994, but not by quite as much as that graphic suggests.

FR recently banned me apparently because I have a somewhat realistic view of the upcoming election. Many there are just plain delusional.

Ah, reminds me of 2004, when I mistakenly tried to join DU... I said I thought Cheney won the debate (against edwards)... Adios amigos to my account.

It seems to me that reps are trying to set up excuse for once they actually lose. thus, they can cite X example or X person as a reason for their lose. Not the deplorable activities they have condonded for the last six years.
