Atlasian-Philippines Free Trade Bill

1. No tariffs, customs, or restrictions on movement of goods, except those that have been outlawed by the destination or interim nation, shall exist between the Republic of Atlasia and the Philippines.
2. The President and other officers of the Atlasian Government shall take such actions as may be necessary to implement the provisions of this bill.

While I don't wish to punish the Philippines with a heavy tariff, I will not hurt American industry by dropping all tariff rates.

You can just say you hate free trade instead of trying to sound like you're taking the high ground with it.

Having liased with Secretary of External Affairs, Afleitch, my position on this Bill is as follows:

The Philippines seems to be to all intents and purposes a functioning liberal democracy, with multiple political parties competing in free elections. I'm reasonably assured that, as a country, she has moved forward by leaps and bounds since the Marcos era. Corruption remains a problem, but there seems to be genuine effort on the part of the government to tackle it and those responsible for perpetuating it

Having given this Bill much thought, I will not be subjecting it to my amendment
