Why?  Sure, it's a blatant emotional appeal, but what about it makes it a bad political ad?  It's pretty effing brilliant.

Oh, yeah, it is brilliant politically but it is terrible that it was produced. Now I want people to argue with me about how this is acceptable but showing the result of a partial birth abortion is inappropriate. Fact is that neither should be on TV.
