The Vice President and I have concurred that this is forum affairs business, which can take the "fifth slot"

Resolution on Trade Bills

1. That no more than two trade bills should be laid before the Senate at any time when a sufficient quantity of other legislation exists to fill up the remaining slots available for debate.

2. The determination of what constitutes a trade bill shall be within the powers of the PPT, though his decision may be challenged when 2 Senators motion such, and overturned by a majority of the Senate.

Any senator may challenge our decision pursuant to Article 7, Clause 2, of the OSPR within the next 72 hours

Should 2/3 of the Senate (i.e. 3) concur then our decision is overruled

I feel this is a straightforward resolution. Looking at upcoming Senate business, Trade Bills with a wide range of countries are set to dominate the agenda. I hope that this resolution will allow for the bills to be gradually moved through while allowing other business time on the floor also.

Having endured the onslaught of trade bills in recent months I fully endorse this resolution. Smiley

Could we at least make it so that if there are no other bills 2 more free trade bills can come on so we don't slow things down?

And I ask that somebody (preferably Hawk) sponsor my free trade bills when I leave the Senate.

I think that issue is addressed in Clause 1. If there is only free trade legislation in the queue, I don't see any reason why there can't be four

Indeed, I shall; however, given the President-elect's stance on free trade, I can't guarantee their success, and if that's the case, I'll be minded to withdraw them, if they are destined to fail

I support this resolution.  Although I support most of the free trade bills, I feel that we need to consider other legislation besides them.

I support this resolution. Now the economy will be destroyed slowly. That way no one will see the what ewe've done till its faaar too late. Brilliant!

Non-partisanly, I still support this, as it allows more import things that a free trade resolution to Djbouti or w/e to get a chance at being voted on.

This Resolution has enough votes to pass. Senators have 24 hours to change their votes
