WASHINGTON--The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) today made public a poll showing Maryland Lieutenant Governor Michael Steele within three points of his Democrat opponent, Congressman Ben Cardin (Cardin 41.3-Steele 38.7).

The poll was conducted by Voter Consumer Research, and questioned 602 likely voters on October 22nd and 23rd:

"In the election for Senate this November who will you vote for between (ROTATE) Michael Steele, the Republican candidate, Ben Cardin, the Democratic candidate and Kevin Zeese, the Green Party candidate?"

Steele - 38.7
Cardin - 41.3
Zeese - 3.6

Margin of error: +/- 3.9%

This appears to be the same survey that was released/leaked a couple of days ago which had it at Cardin 41, Steele 39 (rounded), and which was discussed in a thread on here.  The results were contradicted by a internal Democratic survey that gave Cardin a 12 point lead.   Needless to say, internal polls should be taken with a grain or rock of salt.

And BTW, Cardin is the DemocratIC nominee. (Note suffix.)

Hmmmm... this has me worried.  The only time campaigns let their "internals" get out is when they are trying to fool people.  Of course, they might also be doing this because their polls show them as being up and they want to lull the Dems.
