I tend to agree; I oppose the death penalty in all cases and I think the Iraqi's have made a grave mistake in doing so, but it is their decision at the end of it all.

Well he probably would have died with life in prison anyway. I'm betting one of his guards would have found him "attempting to escape" or that he might have "hung himself during the night".
