Allen is holding on to a 12,000 vote lead over Webb with nearly 96% precincts reporting.
Allen leads with 49.7%, with Webb trailing narrowly with 49.1%.

I really can't believe Allen might win. This is just sad.

All Democrats and fair minded people across the world,
Begin hating the Green Party now. Un-fickin-believable.
G F Allen Republican 1,093,704 49.67%
J H Webb Jr Democratic 1,081,706 49.13%
G G Parker Independent Green 24,313 1.10%
Write Ins 2,181 0.10%
View Results by District Locality Total: 2,201,904
You can't just assume those people would have voted for the Democrat, if there wasn't a Green candidate running. I'm actually betting most of them wouldn't have voted.
This argument works sometimes, but rarely and not here. In 2000, if only 10% of Nader voters had shown up to vote for Gore, Gore would have won by over 1500 votes. Here, if only 1/2 of the green votres voted for Webb, he'd have the lead.
I think if
any
of the Green party voters cared about Democrat control of Congress, they would have begun to support Webb the second the race became competitive. Obviously, at this stage, It would be safe to assume that if any of Parker's supporters would be voting Webb under any circumstance, they would have done so today- with a chance to shift the Senate away from Republican control.

After looking through which areas' precincts still have to declare, I think Webb still has a shot. The only remaining precincts are from areas that are either 50-50 or largely democratic.

that is great!
meanwhile, tennessee is 'too close to call'
these networks can barely contain their glee with the 'democrat victory'
(also ehrlich is still in the lead)

98% of Arlington is in and Allen still leads by about 1,000 votes. There are still parts of some small Allen counties out as well.

Interesting -CNN is calling Maryland for Ben Cardin, and yet Steele
leads
Cardin 50 to 48...and this is with nearly half of all precincts in Maryland reporting.

Check the counties still outstanding....mostly Montgomery and Baltimore City. No way Steele even gets close.
