He won't win in a recount from that far behind, though. Maybe 500, or even a couple thousand, but not 12,000.

Is he?  My problem is that I have no clue how the remaining counties are likely to vote.  Burns has done better in some areas and worse in others (more in the latter category, but still).

What did I say about Maryland?  We'll deliver... and we did.

Well done, Nick.

This is really your victory, as you worked so hard for this. Can't say how relieved I am. Smiley

In examining Montana results... Tester still has 69% of the Democratic motherlode of Silver Bow to report, as well as half of the huge county of Yellowstone (in which he leads 51-47), but there are still a few small heavily Republican counties to come in...

We'll see.

I'm shocked Montana has become this close all of a sudden...still I doubt Burns has much of a chance without Yellowstone.

Thanks.  I really worked my ass off today.  I woke up at 5am and knocked on doors, dropped lit, and flushed voters for 12 hours.   My feet hurt, my legs hurt, my ankle hurts, my back hurts, but hey, it was worth it.

I don't know about anyone else, but looking at some of the results, I think we owe a lot to the Libertarian Party stealing Republican votes in several races.

Thanks.  It means a lot.  Hopefully we can keep this momentum heading into 2008.

I was thinking of you man when I saw the Maryland results.

I bet you're feeling the same way about O'Malley as I feel about Walz right now.

I'll never forget when the results were called for Walz and how the crowd reacted. It was simply amazing.

VA: Only 7 precincts left, 2 of them in heavily Democratic Richmond and Fairfax. It´s time for the racist Allen to conceed !

Er, what's going on with Montana on CNN?  All of the results from Yellowstone have been removed.

http://www.sos.state.mt.us/ELB/archives/2006/elections/general/ussenate/index.asp

Tester leads with 51% in Yellowstone. Burns won this most populous county with 51% in 2000. Now its reversed it seems.

Anyone care to explain Connecticut? I know, the results aren't really unexpected judging by the poll results (though 10% for Schlesinger is surprising), but why did Connecticut vote the way it did?

It looks very much like Webb's won it in VA, things are very, very close in MT... what areas are still to come in? MT will decide who holds the senate, it's really that simple... it'd be a shame for Tester to lose as he might well be the most interesting of the candidates to get elected this year where he to beat Burns.

Lieberman was an incumbent non-Republican, and those did pretty well this election.

So did Democratic challengers Smiley

Looking at the counties still to come in from MT, Burns might actually win this thing, he's currently ahead in all (bar 3) of the counties that have yet to complete their counting...

Even if Tester ends up with less than 50 percent, he should win. There's a Libertarian on the ballot almost as crazy as Burns, and he's doing quite well for himself.
