Looking at the counties still to come in from MT, Burns might actually win this thing, he's currently ahead in all (bar 3) of the counties that have yet to complete their counting...

Even if Tester ends up with less than 50 percent, he should win. There's a Libertarian on the ballot almost as crazy as Burns, and he's doing quite well for himself.

msnbc is saying the Tester campaign anticipates winning 3 of the 5 counties yet to come in with their results... it's also reported that Yellow Stone is unlikley to change their simply confirming it after some voting problems.

I don't know about anyone else, but looking at some of the results, I think we owe a lot to the Libertarian Party stealing Republican votes in several races.

I wouldn't go that far.  The Republicans screwed up, that's why they lost.

I would like to thank all people who were on the forum last night. It was an incredible night (for me) and very stressing because VA race (never seen that before). I'm disappointed by the allen loss, wich is not deserved and due to a stupid president who deserves defeat. Gop in general deserves defeat but not allen. I hope that he will come back, like Santorum.

I hope that dem will do good job (but i have some doubts... if their minimalist platform is good, I think that Pelosi will show fast her true face: liberal-gauchist not in touch with america). Don't forget too that some democrats-elected are more republican that republican even. Without them, no dem majority.

I hope too GOp will become again like the party of honesty and integrity (moral values), what it isn't anymore.

Ford did very well in middle Tennessee (Nashville especially), just not good enough.  Probably helped a bit by Bredesen.

Allen certainly did deserve defeat, and if I were a Republican I would be able to see that Allen is representative of everything that's wrong with Republican Party.

If Allen had wanted to win, maybe he could have actually talked about the issues, instead of slamming his opponent for paragraphs that appeared in a fictional novel.  It's not like he even offered a plan, either; all he did was talk in football metaphors and reiterated the Bush Administration's position on Iraq.  The man was a joke.

I am very pleased to see Jim Webb beat Allen, and I say good riddens to this lousy excuse for a Virginia politician.  It's nice to know that we now have bipartisan Senate representation, and I think Webb will work very well with Warner, who, I might add is a fantastic senior senator for the Commonwealth.

Question. What's going on here?

http://sbe.virginiainteractive.org/

It's telling me the number of precincts reporting has fallen back to 95%.

It's telling me the number of precincts reporting has fallen back to 95%.

From the website:

Quote
Important Note about Percentage of Precincts Reporting:
The percentage of precincts reporting has changed due to the start of the canvas and the counting of provisional ballots. For reporting purposes, the day immediately following the election, each locality creates one conditional vote (CV) precinct, per congressional district, in which to report their provisional votes. Localities with no provisional votes will show total votes of zero in the CV precinct for each candidate/ballot issue.

Provisional ballots are generally more Democratic than Republican, so this is unlikely to change anything at all.

Just a note

Corzine was able to buy a Senate seat.

Lamont tried but failed in an attempt to buy a Senate seat.

Middle Tennessee and West Tennessee, outside of Shelby County, was essentially tied. This leaves Shelby County for Ford and East Tennessee for Corker. Unfortunately, East Tennessee has more people, so Corker won. Was anybody suprised how poorly Corker did in Hamilton County, his home?

Any feelings on Missouri?

With Talent leading McCaskill 51 to 45 with 58% precincts reporting, it is a case-in-study of how never to take polls at face-value....even Mason-Dixon.

I wonder what Claire was at with 58% of precincts reporting for her 2004 election.

Did anyone else think Talent would win at this point?

While I was out at the election party and saw the results coming in, I did believe Talent was going to win. Once I got home and saw that Talent had conceded, I was overjoyed.

I thought we had the Senate for sure early in the night and it looked like the networks were calling that (they again, the TV's were muted where I was). I saw Talent address his supporters, thinking he had been declared the winner.

So who is your favorite incoming Democratic Senator?

Incoming as in...coming in again? That would easily be Ben Nelson.  Tongue

I dislike all of the newcomers to the Senate. I even have a strong dislike for Bob Corker.

You dont like:

Claire McCaskill? Dislike
Bob Casey? Really dislike/one of my least favorites
Klobuchar? Dislike
Brown? Really dislike/one of my least favorites
Webb? Really dislike
Cardin? Don't care about/dislike
Whitehouse? Dislike
Tester? Dislike

I guess of all of those, Cardin would be the one I least care about, therefore disliking the least.

Well, I'm familiar with the RINO concept.  So you feel he's too moderate?  That's a perfectly legitimate criticism coming from a conservative.  I am just trying to pin down all the new Senators -- from both parties -- and find out what their strengths and weaknesses are.

Are there specific issues Corker has embraced or weighed in on that concern you?

I really do enjoy your posts and I respect your opinion.  Thanks, Phil!

No, I don't like when people think I mean moderate when I say RINO. The man is simply an opportunist who changed himself into a conservative to be the GOP nominee.
