Congratulations to my new congressman Paul Hodes!! I've believed we could win this race for over a year now and we made it happen.

My first time really working for a campaign, and we score an upset victory!!

I am so psyched that Tim Walz won, he's one of my favorite candidates this election cycle.

You should've seen his victory speech. Amazing. I saw it personally.

When he was leaving, I caught him and shook his hand. I said "I've never shook a congressman's hand before."

Thank you BRTD and we even got Hall in NY-19! That was shocking.

So tell me about Hodes.  I am fairly new to this board and have not been following this race, aside from believing it was winnable.  (The other NH race came out of nowhere!)

Is Hodes a liberal?  Moderate?  Conservative?

Where do you think he will be in 4 to 8 years?  Senate?  Governor?  I really think New Hampshire needs a Democratic Senator.  I had very high hopes for Jeanne Shaheen some years back.  But, oh well.

Hodes is a mixture of a progressive/libertarian Democrat, very much like myself (I agree with him on pretty much every issue). Supports privacy and gun rights, but is also progressive on economic issues and civil rights. He'll fit the district well.

He's already 55 or 56, so I don't think he'll run for Senate anytime soon (Governor Lynch in 2008 maybe?)

You know, the gun issue is one where I can see Democrats really moving back to the center.  Not sure how I feel about that.  I collect antique firearms and I would hate to see government try to regulate the sale of pre-1898 guns.  And all the hunters and recreational shooters I know are extremely responsible and careful.  On the other hand, I know from personal experience that it's awfully easy to purchase a dangerous weapon at a gun show with little, or no, background check.

That said -- from a purely political standpoint -- I don't think the public realizes how many gun enthusiasts are Democrats.  Notably, John Dingell, Howard Dean and Bob Casey!  (Now, Paul Hodes!)
