Since there is a lot of pain in our Party's ranks, it is hard to celebrate on a night such as this.  But those of us in Tennessee can take it to heart that we did the right thing and elected a good man in the proud tradition of Howard Baker, Fred Thompson, and Lamar Alexander to be our next U.S. Senator.

So I have created this thread for Republicans who are looking for SOMETHING to celebrate tonight Smiley

Sad I had $10 riding on Ford.  Oh well, I see it is a you-get-the-house-and-the-senate tax.

Oh well, I guess you guys deserve to win one after this sort of night. But Corker is still a truly horrible horrible person for his development of protected wetlands scandal.

On the one hand, the GOP desperately needs to build a working coalition outside of the South. There is no excuse for Pennsylvania House elections or the Missouri senate election.

On the other, the South was the only region where they kept the losses to a minimum (exceptions in NC, FL).

But I'll still congratulate Corker. You kept the Senate from becoming a total shutout like the House

It was close, and to be fair the GOP threw everything at this race and won it, Corker was at best a mediocre candidate but despite this he was a good ideological fit for the state... Ford is still very young and will return somewhere down the line, his concession speech was frankly the best I've ever heard.

Best of luck to Bob Corker, my hopes and prayers are that he does well… he was very fair and decent in his remarks this evening... it’s a shame that Ford didn’t win this one but he will be back and I honestly believe he has a great part to play in the future of the United States.

PS: Well done Don Smiley
