It's getting close to the end of the year, close enough that given how long it would take this forum to decide I'd like to start a Person of the Year 2006 contest.  This should be for who you think should be named Person of the Year because of being "the individual or group of individuals who have had the biggest effect on the year's news", not for who you think Time will choose for the title.

Feel free to make multiple nominations, but please include a brief explanation of why you think each nominee should be considered, especially if I might otherwise think you were making a bad joke.
