I would broaden it out a bit and say it was the year of the Northeastern Democrat. I wasn't so much localized in a certain state or states as it was in a region - the NE.

Well, it was definitely not the year of the moderate Republican - they basically don't exist any more in Congress.

New Hampshire, easily. Just four years ago  this was a Republican one party state, 100% Republican Congress delegation, Republican presidential vote, Republican Governor and heavily Republican State Legislature. Look at it now. A very dramatic transformation, especially the legislature this time. They lost what, 80 seats? And both House Reps too. If any state experienced a true wave this year, it was NH.

So are you saying the only new conservative Dems elected were Donnelly, Ellsworth, Hill, and Shuler? I don't know that much about three of them, but Hill seemed to have had a moderate record in Congress.

So you're claiming that a lot of Democcrats are conservatives. Then who needs the Republican party? Gotcha.

Lampson is a moderate, Carney will have to vote like one to be re-elected, Ellsworth and Shuler are Blue-Dogs, Donnelly is moderate, Hill is moderate, Altmire is moderate. Casey will be a pro-life vote in the Senate. Add to that the Blue-Dogs and moderates already in the House Caucus, and yes, the Democratic majority is built on 30-40 odd moderate to conservative Democrats from mainly Bush/swing states.
