Probably.  I'm thinking something like Lieberman 70% Ferucci 20% Schlesinger 10%.

Things would have been radically different, certainly. I think Lowell Weicker would have jumped into the race as an Independent if it looked like Lamont would lose the primary. That would have thrown more than one wrench into the election.

In this scenario, however, I think Schlesinger would have mostly held on the GOP vote as Republicans in CT would have had no reason to strategically vote for Lieberman over Lamont. Ferrucci would have probably gotten around 12-15%, but Schlesinger would have had around 25%.

In Maine, I would've voted for Jean Hay-Bright. However if Snowe had a conservative primary challenger, lost and ran as an independent, I would've voted Snowe.

I imagine many Republicans took the same attitude with Lieberman/Schlesinger.
