I mean, that's a few points from being Stalin/Hussein/Hitler authoritarian range.

Well, if you're a far-right Republican and damn proud if it, it might not be that bad.
Damn straight.

What do you mean? Will you take the test?
I TOOK the test. I think you can all figure out what I was. I don't need to tell you.

We would know you turned out as an athouritarian conservative, but I would be interested in hearing your score.

PD,

You remind me of me when I was in high school.
I was an in your face conservative and loved making people mad at me by expressing my views.

While still very conservative, my approach to people has softened.

Growing up in Portland (high school at least),
sometimes I felt like the only conservative in the school, perhaps that is why I developed such a combative attitude.

Are you in a similar situation?

When you get older (I'm 28), get married, have kids (I have 2 boys), and develope relationships with people you disagree with, but respect, you tend to moderate your rhetoric.

PD, not intended as a low-blow, just a fellow conservative's testimonial.

By the way, I was born in Sacramento and my wife was born in Orange County.

Yes, you seem able to discuss with people without getting mad, which is very nice. Personally, I prefer discussing with people who have different opinions, it is more interesting. Most of my close friends have very different opinions from me.

I've consorted and been friends with people who hold views poles apart from mine. I never moderated, and I see no reason why I should.

Most people moderate as they become older, it has to do with realism I think.

Well, I think that ALL high schools have those problems now days. I do live in a VERY conservative area of CA. So, there's not reall any, how should I say this, LIBERAL problems. I live in Riverside County. It's horizontally lined up with Orange County. It goes from there to the Arizona border. Look at one of Dave's maps of CA, and I'm sure you'll see it. It's long and skinny.

PD, I'm surprised that you described that area as "very conservative". Bush only won Riverside County 51%-45%. Is your city different from the rest of the county?

You could take a lot from that, voter turn out, differences in views with age, candidates seperate views, and so on.

fixed it.  Actually I'm leaning Edwards right now, but as you might guess, I'll be voting for whoever the dems nominate.  By the time we get the primary, it'll likely be over.

Yes, you're probably right. It will probably be over, in reality before Super Tuesday. At least, that's my guess.

I am pretty centrist, if you look at the Primary Candidates, all of them except Sharpton and Kucinich are in the Right Wing Authoritarian quadrant.

I don't think this test is terribly accurate--it puts me pretty close to the center and places Gore and Bush the same on social issues.

Probably the authors of this aren't familiar with political geography/demography as they had the Northeast region correspond with conservative Smiley

I don't like that test lol, it placed me near FDR, more towards the centre a bit though, looks like i am in the middle of a Gore-Jackson-Roosevelt triangle lol.
