I think I've done this before, but I can't find the thread. 

Which one? We've done this little drill lots of times.

1789-1800 Federalist
1804-1820 Democratic-Republican
1824-1832 opposition to D-R
1836-1852 Whig
1856-1864 opposition to Dem
1868-1876 Democratic
1880- present all over the map including Democratic, Republican, Prohibition, Greenback, People's (Populist), Constitutional (AIP), Libertarian and independent (Perot)
