If Howard goes too close to the election and they lose - the Libs will never forgive him. He's the single biggest reason they're probably going to win next year. After saying he's fighting the next election and Beazley get's replaced and Howard bolts... what's it going to look like?

But my bet is - if there's a leadership change in the ALP later this morning (which seems likely) Howard will go to the polls earlier, rather than later.

I still can't believe Rudd is leader. w007. But also kinda scary...we all saw what happenned to Latham. Whilst Rudd is bioth most intelligent and more stable than Latham, there's a possibility when the election comes people will opt for experience. I'm still going with Costello taken over in early June and an election as late as possible. Depends on the poll numbers between March and June, really; if Howard is consistently down by over 5%, lock it in.
