I don't know if Paul "Bear" Bryant really got one vote at the 1968 DNC.

Then again, this..

http://www.ourcampaigns.com/ContainerHistory.html?ContainerID=5768&ShowPrimaries=Y

claims all sorts of wacky VP convention votes.

Especially the 1972 DNC VP ballot.

They should have went with McGovern/Farenthold!

Who is Farenthold? Wiki has nothing on him\her.

Interesting that Mike Gravel finished third.

"Sissy" Farenthold was a woman from Texas.  She was a nobody who just walked into the convention and asked people to vote for her for vice president.

Mike Gravel was a pompous ass.  He actually nominated himself for vice president, but George McGovern of all people didn't want him to get any votes (seeing as how Ted Kennedy, Birch Bayh, and Walter Mondale all refused the veep spot, it shows you how desperate and awful Gravel must have been to volunteer for it).

She was apparently in the Texas state legislature, and she got to a runoff in the Governor's race in 1972.

I'm not sure if that is fact or myth.  Didn't John Wayne get a vote at the RNC in 68?

That page claims that Robert Bork got a vote for President in 1996.

And the page also claims a vote for Roger Staubach for VP in 1976 at the RNC.

And a vote for Hunter S. Thompson for VP at the 1976 DNC.

Ford/Staubach v. Carter/Thompson!
