In an article by www.poltics1.com, Tom Tancredo said the city of Miami, Florida looks like a "Third World" country.  Gov. Jeb Bush and many other Floridians have demanded an apology from Tancredo, but Tancredo refuses to back down and even is implying that Jeb Bush is naive.

If Tancredo had any hopes whatsoever of winning the GOP nomination in 2008, that just got drowned in the waters off South Beach.

What do you think?  Should Tom Tancredo apologize, or does his remarks have merit? Discuss.

Anybody who regularly visits Fark will see that his comments certainly do have merit.

However, yeah, hopefully this is *finally* the end of his political career.

Fark.com? That site is a joke. All they do is post stupid one liners to selected news stories. But of course no one really cares what anyone writes there.

As for Tancredo- he knows his audience. This will help his political career, not end it.

That's the point.  And also why I like it.

I say this earlier today. What trash. Not only did he call insulted Bush and the city of Miami he said Miami was like "a third world country".

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/11/30/politics/main2217944.shtml

I was looking over Google News earlier today and saw this and I say "I wonder who this could be?" I then looked over at the picture and said "God damn Tom Tancredo".

So who's worse Jean-Marie Le Pen or Tom Tancredo? I really think that Tancredo should now be classed with the neo-fascists and far-right in Europe.

He is certainly committing political suicide with those comments.  He is a thorn in the side of the Republican party.  Hopefully, his constituents will wise up and kick him out of office in 2008.

I don't think he should apologize, since the city does look like a foreign country.  However, is it proper for an elected politician from one state insult the city of another state?  No.  But there is no cause for him to apoligze.

They won't -his quirkiness apparently reflects their own.  There is a reason why they chose him as their congressman.

Why do you pretend to be an Independent?  It isn't fooling anyone.

Even if you were representing Tancredo's comments correctly, he would be guilty of inspiring nationalistic hatred and even possible racism.  But to say that a part of the United States looks like a third world country because of the presence of Spanish-speaking immigrants is simply despicable.

Retirement homes are breeding grounds for radical muslims and as such are the tools of the devil.

Uh, yeah, because calling it a different country and a third-world country are the same thing.

Tancredo represents the least-impoverished congressional district in the country.  He knows his audience.

What did I say imply I'm not an independent?  Being a non-Tancredo fan, I think my comment was quite objective.

But he still didn't say that Miami is a "foreign country," unless you consider all foreign countries to be third world ones.
