Well, as a Democrat and longtime member, DU.  But I will admit, I check in on the Freepers every once in a while.

Checkout some of the 2008 posts at FR.  They despise almost every Republican running.

Neither, and anyone who thinks either site has anything worthwhile to say is clearly smoking something.

I just can't work up enough hatred to really enjoy either one. (I do have my blood pressure to think of!)

The average political tone around here used to be rather moderate, but has taken an unfortunate jaunt to the left lately.

Let's see...

DU - Frothing partisans who I sometimes agree with in terms of broad goals.

FR - frothing partisans who harm the good name of the GOP.

Tough call....

First thing you've said in about 6 months I agree with don.  Of course, it's not that surprising, but still...

The two aren't even comparable, because DU doesn't have people threatening to assassinate political candidates and engaging in stalking.

FreeRepublic is more fun to visit, because they are so unintentionally hilarious.

Here is a classic:

Has any regular DU poster been found to be a terrorist like on FreeRepublic?

Source please.

Wiki sez:

Chad Castagana 39, of Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California was arrested on 11-12-2006 by a Joint Terrorism Task Force comprised of FBI agents from both New York and California, along with US Postal authorities, for allegedly sending profane and death-threatening letters containing 'white powder' to Liberal politicians, journalists, and celebrities. Castagana was a registered user of Free Republic, according to blogs cited by Keith Olbermann of MSNBC.

Supposedly this guy was a banned troll, but I still find his association with Free Republic disturbing. Also, read the entry on "cyber stalking" just above if you want to be creeped out.

First thing you've said in about 6 months I agree with don.

Remember when this board was dominated by conservatives and libertarians? The pendulum will swing back eventually.

Hopefully not for a long while, though. Tongue

Yeah I read the Wiki article as well. Really creepy. It just goes to show you that the level of hate on sites like Free Republic, and on DU as well, is enormous and people with the right sort of mental problems might get violent and dilusional ideas.
