As you may or may not have noticed, but I have been a bit more quiet as of late.  That is because my nephew has convinced me to experiment with "blogging."  The concept seems pretty easy, but I find it hard to come up with ideas to write about.  *laughs*  I guess some people are cut out for public writing, and others (like me) are good at public reading.  Smiley  Anyway, here is my blog:  MODU's Musings

If anyone else out there have a blog which they want to share, give us the link so we can see what you do outside of the Atlas.  Smiley

I have one, though it's much too personal to link to.

I might create another blog, though I don't know of good websites. At one point I had my own website, but I couldn't pay for hosting so that fell through. Any suggestions?

Yeah, I don't have too much that is personal on mine for the same reason.  My experiences (like my sea years) are about as personal as it gets for me.  You won't see anything with my name and stuff on it.

I am using Wordpress as my host.  They offer free blogs, and they use their own software (online) for you to develope your site with.  The tools are pretty straight forward.  Even an old man like myself can use it.  HAHAHA

It looks like a lot of work to keep up, MODU.

I don't think I could commit the time to something like that.

Who is the targeted audience of your blog?

It really doesn't take too much time for me to actually write/post something.  What takes me the longest time is to think of/focus on one topic (hence the "scattered mind" on the blog title).  As far as an audience goes, I don't have one targetted with this blog.  It is more of an experiment for me, to see if I can actually "do it," so I'm just taking topics or items of interest and adding them to the site.  So far I have 24 posts on there, so that's about two posts per day.  Who knows what direction (if any) this blog will take down the roads.  Smiley

They are not usually serious writings, and I write alot of them with over the top cynicisim. Some of my writings have served in my act. There is some political news, although it's basically just a rant thing.

Most of it SHOULD NOT be taken seriously.

A friend of mine works for a newspaper, and does a blog as part of her job.  It's tough coming up with new issues to talk about day in and day out.

I'd probably be OK for the first couple of weeks, but after that, it would be tough.

Not bad.  Smiley  (I left a comment under the Christian Top 10.)  Your blog is about 180-degrees from mine as far as the material posted.  Still, it's a good read.  Smiley  Provides another level of understanding of what makes our Dr. an interesting person.  Tongue

i doubt any one would be interested in reading anything i wrote, so why bother keeping a blog?

maybe it is another sign that im completely f'ed up, but i have a very hard time reading what i write.  i dont like doing it and i seldom do (a big reason why my posts often have typos...i dont proofread!)

it is just a phobia of mine, i guess.

after i click the submit button, i never look back

Walter, it's interesting you should say that... Y'know, there are alot of actors who hate to watch themselves in film... Henry Fonda was a famous example... Gene Hackman as well.

It's probably something to do with the "I shoulda done this or that instead" phobia you're expiriencing, Walter.

I admire certain bloggers' ability to keep posting interesting stuff every day for what are often years, and to be up-to-date continually about the topics they focus on, while keeping their real life strong, without being directly paid- though I imagine having a sizeable readership is a strong motivating factor. Bloggers have really democratized the media (the only barrier to entry is a computer with Internet access and some free time) and they deserve special praise for doing so.

You are at a college, after all.  Does Berkeley not give you webspace?  Caltech does, but it doesn't let me do much.  However, I also have space on a student-run server where I can do pretty much anything if I learn how, although it's run by batsh**t CS majors and is way too confusing to work reliably.

I am doing my first attempt at a "live blog" with a game summary of the Giants/Redskins game.  This is harder than I thought.  HAHAHA

I have posted since August. I have had things to write about but after a certain point it just gets boring. Not to mention I must have 20,000 pieces of blog spam with between 5 and 10 legitimate messages in it.

You're right, you were definitely hit by spam.  Is this a private blog/server?  Wordpress does a great job of blocking most spam.  If there are any questionable ones, you are able to approve/reject the messages which the server holds in their que.  Nice format though.
