Oh dear, it's happened, the Hague-Cameron split ive tossed and turned in bed about for a year now....

Or is it that bad?

Has Cameron gutted the party just a little too much?

The problem with the so-called 'Conservative' party in the UK is that is does not adhere to conservative principles but is merely a watered down version of the Labour party.

I want to cry, it's very sadly true, there's no PM like Margaret, there's no PM like Margaret.... there's no PM like Margaret... (Wizard of Oz tone)

Funny you say that since people believe Labour is a watered down version of the Tories.

This is actually good news for the Tories - Cameron has been desperately trying to shed the party's "nasty" image, and the more fringe lunatics sod off to a, well, a fringe lunatic party like UKIP, the better it is for him.

And there is no Hague/Cameron split, at least not on the surface. Hague himself actually embraced the EU in his last major conference speech, a serious break from his Eurosceptic past.

Actually they're living down to Burke's description as "the stupid party."

Actually what both the Labour and Tory parties want to look like is an old version of the Liberal Party (not the modern Lib Dems mind);  Full of inoffensive status quo types who naturally appeal towards the middle.

Though it would be better for British politics if all the Daily Mail reading crowd went over to the UKIP.

Don't know about the Tories, but the current (and soon to be former...) Labour leadership just want to be like Bill Clinton.

Bearing in mind quite how many people read the Daily Hate Mail, that would not be a good thing...

Yeah... they can't all be bigoted reactionaries who want Britain to return to the Victorian era..? ... Can They?

Speaking of which there is now an Irish Daily Mail, which thankfully I have never read and all I really know about it is that right-wing ultra-catholic arsewit Aidan Quinn writes for it, though one day which happened to be the anniversary day of the Easter rising while I was buying the paper (The Irish Times If you must know) I noticed it's frontpage with pictures of Connoly, Pearse, et al with "REMEMBER THE HEROES" at the bottom.

The whole idea of the Irish wing of the ultra-tory reactionary-nationalist paper celebrating one of the most important anti-British Imperialist rebellions in history made me laugh... alot.

Does anyone reckon there are any Tory (or any..) MPs who might actually defect to UKIP?

Bob Spink (Con, Castle Point) was alledgedly thinking about it a few months ago.

I wouldn't be surprised if that f***wit Andrew Rosindell (Con, Romford) jumped ship to UKIP at some point. Or at least that's where he belongs.

Nah, he's more of a BNP type...

Talking of which, I'm expecting UKIP to make a big push for BNP votes at some point over the next few years.

Well, hopefully they'll cancel each other out. Cheesy

But I'll be honest, I already see little difference between the two. UKIP is basically a middle class version of the BNP.

Pretty much (although there is, or at least was in 2004, a genuine anti-E.U. vote for UKIP as well, especially in the East Midlands and the South West). Of course, BNP voters are better off economically than the media would like to pretend.
Btw, the BNP have recently been polling some suprisingly high (usually around 10% or so) votes in local by-elections in rich areas around London, btw. Sure, turnouts have usually been very low and as such they'd never do that well with more than a comedy turnout, but...

Am I wrong to think Cameron will not appeal to them either?
