The Socialists five best counties
Northumberland - 25%
Clinton - 24%
Berks - 17%
Westmoreland - 14%
Beaver - 14%

The Prohibitionists five best counties
Venango - 14%
Butler - 11%
Indiana - 10%
Warren - 9%
Susquehanna - 7%

The Democrats fared the best in Pike County

The Republicans fared the best in Philadelphia County

The Keystoners fared the best in Juniata County

1986:



Casey (D) defeated Scranton (R) 51-48.

1990:



Casey (D) beat Hafer (R) 68-32. He lost Montco by a hair and swept the other 66 counties. Lancaster is amazing- the abortion issue really helped Casey here.

Last but not least, this is the 2002 Democratic primary map (not from your site, but it's hilarious):



Red is Rendell; blue is Casey. Rendell won 56-44! Shows you where the Democratic votes are...

Lackawanna is heavily industrial and and urban, it contains Scanton. There must have been other factors at work.

There was quite a lot of Welsh immigration to the Scranton area in the late 19th century. Could be a factor maybe.
