Social Score: Still -10.00
Economic Score: 6.26
Trended left a little on Economics.
Probably due to my view on union.
That's just wrong, dude.
Whoops!
Just fixed it.
I actually didn't notice that error, but glad to be of help.
Oh right.
My Left Libertarianism (ie anti state and anti corporate power) makes me lean toward pro-union rights. Workers need someway to prevent from getting screwed over by corporate power, however they should by no means accumulate so much power as to become a special interest.
Funny how my economic score seems to be the same as JewishConservative's although we are opposites on social issues.
If I recall correctly, the union-related questions on the PM test imply state recognition of union powers (such as forbidding the firing of striking employees). Doesn't seem like a very anti-state position to hold.
I fail to see how protecting worker's rights to a safe workplace and reasonable wages is "pro state". Again this position falls more into the realm of "anti-corporate" than it does under the realm of anti-statism. I believe there needs to be organizations that represent the interests of the workers in American businesses. I believe that bargaining between the workers and their bosses is more effective than having to resort to bringing in the government to make unfair demands of either side. Giving employers the authority to fire any striking union employee means that whenever a strike occurs, no real meaningful change can occur or in other words, the average worker who works in said envirnoment is going to keep getting screwed. There needs to be a check on the power of businesses that might take advantage of the worker and subject them to a working environment that is unsafe and/or barely livable wages. If it can be determined that said striking workers are making unreasonable demands (by getting a legal consensus from other workers, union or not, that demands are unfair), then I believe said organization should have the right to fire said striking workers (also, secret ballot voting should be allowed). However, if it can not be proven by anyone other than management that the striking workers are making unreasonable demands, then yeah they should be protected from being fired. If being against near corporate slavery of the worker makes me anti-libertarian, so be it. If dead0man can get away with being pro-military I should get away with being moderately pro union rights. I've never claimed to be a pure blood libertarian, just that a majority of my beliefs fall into that category.
Sorry, I wasn't trying to be combattive. You have every right to support union's rights, though, I think you should keep in mind that they are some of the most statist people you can find for allies (only Southern populists & neoconservatives are worse).
So, rights are only for those who agree with you?
LOL. It looks like I said that, doesn't it?
I was trying to point out that if you don't like expansion of the state, labor unionists are not the best people for you to help get into office.

I don't think it's the case for me. My social views have almost been unchanged ( only focusing or not to these issues did ), whereas my economic views have a cyclical evolution : I regularly swing from hard left to center-left, and then from center-left to hard left...
