The Iowa one is really throwing me off.

So Clinton has a huge lead in Nevada and a clear lead in Iowa (what?) and also leads in New Hampshire (but Obama is close behind) and South Carolina (but Edwards is close behind).

For the Republicans the most shocking thing was how strongly Gingrich was polling.

Democrats:

IA: Clinton, Obama, Edwards - close
NH: Clinton, Obama some points trailing
NV: Clinton, Edwards and Obama tied behind her
SC: Clinton, Obama and Edwards couple of points behind

Wot did I say ? Meaningless though at this point...

Yeah but Iowa wasn't even close and it condricts all of the other polling done there but you are correct that it is still pretty meaningless at this point.

Clinton's and Gingrich's strength says that these are mostly name recognition.

It seems like Obama wasn't doing as well as previously thought, he is in third place in IA, SC, and NH and second in NH and NV. I thought Edwards would be doing better in NV. This verifies the FOX news Opinion Dynamics poll that has Clinton up 33%-12%.

It doesn't certify anything. Its just a poll.

Well I think that with Hillary ahead in all of the generic ballots leading in every poll out there I believe this poll.

Yeah but the other two pollsters that went into Iowa found way different results than this poll did. Anyway they are just fun to look at right now. They hardly mean anything significant.

I'm not really surprised by this at all.  Also, it's totally meaningless.

Well, this certainly doesn't agree with other recent polls, especially IA. I guess a lot depends on turnout, particularly in the caucuses.

But it shows that Clinton has more strength than the previous polls gave her credit for.

I'm guessing Obama won't become more of a force in SC until the people there learn that hes a black dude. That should help quite a bit. I'm guessing the blacks there are going pretty hard for Clinton right now.

These poll results don't make any sense, especially Gingrich's position in the Republican primaries.

Like everyone else has said, these polls are pretty much meaningless this early. I have a hard time believing many of the results.

ARG has a good record on polls, in 2004 and 2006, we will tell in time if they are the right ones.

Good plan:  if you don't like the leader in a poll, just assume it's wrong.

I think they're assuming that this poll is wrong because it doesn't jive with basically any other poll in recent existence, not just because Clinton is ahead.

Actually, there wasn't any polls done in SC and NV done and NH Clinton was ahead, the only one in dispute is IA and it can be argued any way, but the national polls do square with these polls showing Clinton ahead of Barak 2-1. Time will only tell if these polls will be acurate when Clinton and Obama officially announces and the debates begin. These numbers don't tell you much because of the debates will tell who will the frontrunner be.

I just want to know the people who are voting for clinton.  Between this forum whom never give her any votes and the liberal women(for whom one would think would be her base) i am surrounded by virtually every minute(just bitchin) no one has said they would vote for clinton over obama or edwards.  I just keep thinking that it has to be name recognition or political novices.

I've asked this question many times, myself.

I think until there is a viable alternative to Hillary, people are going to stick with someone they know and everyone knows Hillary Clinton, and so far there is clear cut alternative to Hillary Clinton, everyone seems to be bunched up in there.

I suppose.  In thinking about it, if someone asked me to choose between Hillary Clinton and someone of whom I had no knowledge, I'd probably go for Hillary Clinton purely, because for all I know, the other guy could be some Neo-Nazi or something.

Fascinating. Worthless, but fascinating none-the-less. I am rather suprised by Gingrich's showing...in a poll where name recognition would be a big factor...he does suprisingly well as he is an out of vogue kind of politician. A relic of the 90s one might call him.
