Rep. Nancy Boyda said on ABC's World News that she supports a "troop surge" because President Bush is our commander in chief. She repeated the GOP's talking points that Congress is "powerless to stop the President" on the war. She also opposes cutting off funding for the war.

This sellout Democrats probably thinks being from a Red State gives her the ability to undermine her party. WRONG. Rep. Heath Shuler is from a Red district in a Red State and her opposes a troop surge. Boyda better not become a traitor to the party. Even fellow Kansas Democrat Dennis Moore opposes a troop surge.

I have a message to Nancy Boyda if she follows the Neville Chamberlain/ Joe Lieberman school of appeasement: Nancy Boyda, your being watched by the bloggers!

ANY Democrat in the House or Senate who supports the "surge" deserves a strong and vicious primary challenge in '08.

That's right, the only real Democrats are the ones that support the creation of a massive humanitarian crisis in Iraq Cheesy

Here's the transcripts from ABC World News:

"Gibson: Would you vote in favor of money to support another 20,000 to 40,000 troops in Iraq?

Boyda: I think we're going to vote to support what the commander in chief and head of military asks to do. At least, I am certainly going to vote to support it.

Gibson: If he wants the surge, he'll get it.

Boyda: Yes.… He is the commander in chief, Charlie. We don't get that choice. Congress doesn't make that decision."

I'm very disappointed in this woman. The only reason she's in Washington is because the DCCC spent $650k in a last minute TV buy.

Go Boyda!!!! She was born in St. Louis yall!!

YES!! Another Democrat like me... the republican kind

Do you support America military escalation in an unstable region which perceives our presence as part of the continuation of the Crusades? Rep. Murphy is right that the solutions is not a military one, but a political one.

We need to establish clear goals for the Iraqi Army to meet and we must create a flexible withdrawal date from Iraq. The new Bush "way forward for Iraq" is another euphemism for "stay the course" which is a euphemism for continuing to lose this war.

Occupation of an autonomous people rarely works and it never works when you violate the Powell Doctrine of overwhelming force. Sending troops in now will only exacerbate the growing sectarian strife. So go ahead, yell "YES!!" to Rep. Boyda's bellicose statement. You're lucky it's not YOUR LIFE on the line.

Why don't you like Charlie Rangel? He's a big proponent of eleimanting the AMT and he's the first Black chairman of the Ways and Means Committee.

I was offended by his recent remark "Mississippi gets more than their fair share back in federal money, but who the hell wants to live in Mississippi?" and then refusal to make an apology for it.  Pretty much every Mississippian I know that knows about Rangel hates him because of this, no matter what their political leaning is.

Why let such a dumb throw-away comment like that make you hate him?

Here's the reality of it: people up north make fun of Mississippi.  No one really defends the Deep South.  It's not any more personal/accurate than the jokes about West Virginia are.

(To be fair, though, you do rank 50th-51st in almost everything.  Tongue  So it's not like the state doesn't represent some not-so-great things.)

I think the reality is more along the lines of "people not in Mississippi make fun of Mississippi".  Wasn't it Alabama that was the state where there was a joke that went something like, "Why does the wind blow in Alabama?  Because Mississippi sucks."

I honestly can't think of a single good thing about Mississippi, except Harry.

Strip club are rare and the few that exist probably suck due to regulation, prudery is horrendous and there is basically no indie scene whatsoever. It's the only state in the country I can't name a single band from and touring bands NEVER go there (seriously. I've seen many tour dates).

Mississippi is not nearly as prudish as you imagine. It has a larger gambling industry than any state other than Nevada. MS is just very rural and that brings its own set of problems. That said, MS is easily one of the worst states in the country, and I know this fact well as I live just about 10 miles from it.

Even I'm not sure that a troop surge is a good idea.

That being said, I think its hilarious that some people here want to defeat her in a primary in a rather Republican district over one vote.  Its just nice to know that the ideological extremists in the Democratic party are at least as irrational as the ones in my own party.

Consider the district she represents for a moment, people...

Two problems with your argument.
A: She wasn't this pro-war during the election.
B: I'd rather have a Republican in that seat than some crazy warmonger who undermines the Democratic party
