NE would probably have had two GOP senators from 2004-2006. Woud the Democrats still control the Senate. Discuss the effect this would have had on the NE Senate election and the overall control of the Senate.

there would likely be a senator osborne or a senator johanns, and the gop would have 51-49 majority.

Probably GOP controls 50-50, but it's possible that the Democrats could try to paint Bush as forcing GOP control the Senate, and TN could flip or something.

Plus he has the Senate seat for life, while the Sec position only 2 years.

Johanns would be Senator if Nelson was appointed (and accepted).

But if Johanns had not been appointed, ran against Nelson in 2006, he would have lost.  Thanks alot to Stenberg for running such a bad campaign in 2000.
