Yes. She got 53%, probably would've gotten 45% in this case.

So, you're saying 8% of NY-20 voters cast their ballot on the basis that Gillibrand is beautiful and wouldn't have done so had she been considerably less attractive?

I voted No, BTW, on the premise that voters elected Gillibrand on the issues, rather than on her looks

No. She might have won 52% instead of 53%, but the difference is not that large. Being beautiful also makes it hard for people to take you seriously, and for people who bother to vote in midterm elections, someone being serious is more important than someone being beautiful, so she might have actually done better if she were ugly.

She probably would have lost a close one. Her looks definitely don't hurt her.

This district has a 2:1 Republican registration advantage. Just keep that in mind.

As someone who lives in NY-20, I'm going to say she would have won anyway (with a smaller marigin). Smiley

If Carol Shea-Porter looked like Steph Herseth, would she still have won?

Not to mention that I don't find Gillibrand attractive.

Granted I seen a few pictures where she looked sort of cute - but these were mostly ones with her face mildly shadowed. This is by no means a pic I found especially unattractive - rather it's a pic that probably shows what she really looks like.

Hey, for a congresswoman that is about as hot as it gets.

For someone who spends a few weeks a year in the north end of NY-20 (N. End of Lake George), I'd say a lot of people could have voted solely on looks

You can always find various small clues that this forum is populated mostly by teenage or twenty-something guys.

Naw, I don't think it usually makes a difference in Congressional races. Now, if Joe Courtney weighed 300 pounds, he would not be a Congressman right now.
