http://www.geoclip.fr/an/p241_atlasfrance.php

Clicking on 'Discover France' will give you access to a flash map of France where you can find results by municipalities, counties for Chirac, Le Pen and Jospin. Click on 'background analysis' then 'society-elections' then make your choice from the drop down box below. There is also a hell of alot of other information avaliable.

It seems to be missing the 4 overseas departments.

Other overseas possessions as well. They all vote in France.

An attempt at a seperate map of those should be up fairly soon

Results for the overseas departments:

The third candidate is Taburia (PRG) who took over 50% in Guyane (she represents Cayenne in the National Assembly). No point doing the other candidates as they all polled very low shares of the vote.
Equally, no point doing the overseas territories as they all went strongly (very, very strongly in some cases) for Chirac. Le Pen took 13% in Saint-Pierre et Miquelon though.

I like how the top two results are "right" and "extreme right".

Funny how Chirac and Chevenement's maps are the only ones to immediately betray where the candidate is from.

True that. I also found the extent to which Madelin and Hue's maps mirror each other mildly amusing.

Results (same election) within Paris now. Candidates same as in previous map, except with Taubira and with no Saint-Josse. To avoid confusion, Besancenot finished ahead of Laguiller in Paris.

That 2002 map is brilliant..in it's own way. Smiley

(Just Asking, what was Jacques Chirac's best region?)

Also, I find it amazing how well Pompidou did.

Not sure. Probably Limousin. Best Department was Correze (though not if you include the overseas departments; then it's Martinique).
