OFFICIALS are bracing themselves for a storm of public outrage over their controversial X-ray cameras scheme.
As part of the most shocking extension of Big Brother powers ever planned here, lenses in lampposts would snap “naked” pictures of passers-by to trap terror suspects.
The proposal is contained in leaked documents drawn up by the Home Office and presented to PM Tony Blair’s working group on Security, Crime and Justice.
But the prospect of the State snooping on individuals’ most private parts is certain to spark national fury.

Sounds like the airport screeners unveiled a few months ago.  You won't see much of anything, and you cannot look at one of these images and make out someone's face, so I don't believe it's too much of an issue.  The only thing which I would need to verify is that the X-ray levels are minimal and will not cause any undue side-effects.

I don't care about the nudity issue, but I think all such cameras are unconstitutional.

Oh, the usual "exclusive leak" to a tabloid "news"paper that, 9 times out of 10, leads to nowt.
Wake me up when there's some real news.

but I think all such cameras are unconstitutional.

I didn't know that the U.S Constitution had any legal weight in the U.K...

Click on the link I posted above if you want to see what theses photos reveal. In my own case my main issue is that such a photo of me would reveal an overfed beer belly. But I think most women would be very unhappy about having that much of themselves revealed. I would also be unhappy about such pciture being taken of my wife or daughters.

Those were the photo's I referenced in my post.  You can't determine who the person is, and there isn't much there for anyone to really get embarassed about.

LOL Ok now I understand. Well anyway if you were married your hypothetical wife would be really pissed about it.

I'm suprised female posters have not expressed anger over this.

So you're quite happy to complain about people swearing, but you don't mind having your balls out on display for people you don't even know?

Actually, that's the only part of this proposal that I don't mind.. Grin
