republicans wouldnt have a shot in the special election.  side note:  john kerry lost a race for this seat in 1972, the last time a republican won this seat.

He's pretty much a socialist and a MASSIVE Freedom Fighter. Easily one of the top 3 Reps at least.

Me-Me-Meehan broke a term limits pledge, tried to cover it up, and withheld his millions from the DCCC last fall

Maybe he is hoping to challenge Kerry for the Senate in 2008 and thus is already giving up his seat?  If he loses he can just devote himself to being Chancellor?

No. I doubt even he is stupid enough to think he can beat Kerry who is still approved of by 66% of electorate, especially since the grassroots would definitely back Kerry in that scenario.

My problem is that he was one of the Congressmen who tried to manipulate Wikipedia to his own advantage (though, to his credit, he was the only one to apologize).

Its wierd, but Mitt Romney actually carried this district by about 20 points in his 2002 Gubernatorial race and Bush SR beat Dukakis here by seven points in 1988.

When was the last time MA-05 was re-districted? Did Peter Tolkerson ever represent any parts of it when he was in MA-06?

Torkildsen represented MA-06, which Democrat John Tierney represents now.
