Here's a tough challenge. Find a Republican ticket that would win DC...

That's pretty much impossible in any realistic scenario.

Bloomberg/Chafee vs. Zell Miller/ Ben Nelson

Can't gaurentee a win, but it's as realistic as I can think

Given the demographics of DC, your best bet would probably be a liberal black Republican against some ridiculously conservative white Democrat.

And no, I don't know who that would be.

I have said it before, so long as there is a Democrat or Green on the ballot, the Republican will NEVER carry DC.  It's 3 electoral votes that the Democrats will never lose.

Here's the ticket:

Will Smith/Michael Steele (R) 22%
Hillary Clinton/Ralph Nader (D) 20%
Barack Obama/Dick Durbin (L) 20%
Cynthia McKinney/William Jefferson (BPP) 16%
Ralph Nader/Gavin Newsome (G) 6%
Harold Ford Jr./Steve Cohen (CBC) 5%
Al Sharpton/Jesse Jackson (RC) 11%

I think some may be under the mistaken impression that DC is overwhelmingly black. Its actually only about 57% black, and shrinking. ~a good portion of the Dem vote comes from the wealthier, mostly white areas.

No way. Wallace would crush him.

Oh, come on, DC isn't 100% safe for the Democrats. Here in California in 1999, the Democrats lost a State Assembly district in Oakland!

Yeah, George McGovern almost didn't make it to 78% there!

I could see the Green party winning DC, maybe not likely, but possible.

Colin Powell, Republican vs Cynthia McKinney, Democrat

Surely, even the black voters of DC wouldn't pick moron McKinney over statesman Powell.

Of course they wouldn't - if Powell had a D next to his name.  Otherwise, no.

Not possible now since the segregationist wing of the Democratic party has evaporated.

Cosmo Kramer gives his rant as every speech and runs as a Dem. v Colin Powell, or some other liberal Republican.
