One of my personal heroes.
His 1924 platform called for the following:
* Government ownership of the railroads and utilities
* Easy credit for farmers
* Abolition of child labor
* Right of workers to unionize
* An end to US imperialism in Latin America
His candidacy was backed by the non-Communist left; he was endorsed by the Socialist Party, the Farmer-Labor Party, and the American Federation of Labor. The
Wall Street Journal editorial page called his platform "Wisconsin Bolshevism," while the Communist Party called it "reactionary."
Obviously, massive Freedom Fighter.
