Of course it won't. It's beyond stupid and it makes no sense to turn his last name into verb form, considering that he was his own worst enemy running for reelection. Nothing the Democrats did or said about him hurt him more than his own words, actions, legislative and voting record.

It may catch on among hard-core political junkies like the users of this site, but among the general public or in common usage, no.

To be honest, I think I've only seen it on this forum and it was thought up by BRTD. Yet another attempt at fame will fall short, BRTD.

Yes, with a wholly misleading meaning.

jfern thought it up and it's been used on DailyKos and DU.

No. Santorum is catching on as the name for somethine else though...

I'm not even gay and I know about the 'alternative' meaning of the word 'Santorum'.  This'll never catch on though, because why on earth would it?

It may catch on because there is no other word for it. "Santorum" fills a need in the language.

I admit that there isn't currently a single word for 'defeating an incumbent', but there isn't really much call for one either.

God I hope not.  If it does it will often be confused with the other meaning of the word "Santorum" (which is just not a pretty image).

I hope so. In fact, to assist it's spread, I'm going to use one of Jfern's quotes in my sig.

That "meaning" was completely made up. I hope you know that.

I think I'm going to refer to the same process as "hostettlering" from now on. Smiley

Of course it was; everybody knows that.  It's just that one new meaning for 'Santorum' has already been applied, and been somewhat successful.  My point is that this new meaning that jfern and BRTD are trying to popularize is nonsensical and pointless.
