New Election: 2001 Virginia Lt. Gubernatorial Democratic Primary Election Results

One part of this involves testing the uploader to see if Clifton Forge results are uploadable.

One part is to see how sectional Virginia was in this primary.

You know it's a good old sectional primary when every color from 30% to 70% is used for every candidate.

And it appears that I did figure out the data needed to get Clifton Forge city results on here.

The most polarized primary in 2001 for the Virginia Dems was this one

https://uselectionatlas.org/RESULTS/state.php?year=2001&off=9&elect=1&fips=51&f=0

McEachin - 34
Edwards - 30
Clement - 27
Clute - 10

The top three candidates won at least one county/city with every percentage from 20 to 70. Clement won a county with over 90%. Clute won the city of Harrisonburg.

Edwards won his home city (Roanoke) with 92%
Clement won his home city (Danville) with 95%
McEachin did get 88% in Charles City County.

And McEachin then lost by a wide margin to Kilgore in November.

Jerry Kilgore's results map from the 1997 Attorney General primary (that he lost with 25%)

Earley won 36-25 here.

What is it with Virginia primaries and being laughably regionally polarized?

Virginia doesn't really have a lot of experience with contested primaries.

Plus, I think a lot of the polarization involves regional machines. Especially in Southwest Virginia.

Although when it comes to the Attorney General's race in 2001, Kilgore rolled over McEachin.
