Presidential race tied, BRTD down one to Jedi.  Should be a fun 28 hours.

Yawn, I had my vote improperly not counted once when it was a valid vote.

Actually, the point I would make is that if it weren't for people like Tweed we wouldn't need the rule in the first place. But that's life I guess.

We can't count your vote for this election.

But I would support a change along the lines of "you can edit your vote until an hour after you cast it or three hours before polls close, whichever is earlier" (exact times open to debate) to be in place for the next elections.

Really?  I was using Tweed's numbers that are up and adding the three more votes that came in since which all flowed to Afleitch.  What do you have?

Check like-a-Fishhook News.
Of course, I may be the one who can't count... but the internal inconsequences for us minor candidates in Tweed's figures make me think otherwise. Grin It's also quite possible that neither of us can count, though.

These numbers are wrong.

Afleitch is presently ahead 26-20 and may have a 27th vote depending on Gabu interprets DWPerry's 3rd preference for NOTA.

Afleitch is presently ahead 26-20 and may have a 27th vote depending on Gabu interprets DWPerry's 3rd preference for NOTA.

Doing so would be quite illegal, per Section 1, Clause 6 of the Consolidated Electoral System Reform Act, which reads, in part, as follows:

"Any voter who votes for 'None of the Above' may do so only as a first preference."

This quite clearly indicates to me that any vote for NOTA that is not a first preference is to be ignored.

Of course, it could be noted that it then also goes on to given this potentially contradictory statement:

"Any and all lower preferences of the voter shall be ignored."

Out of context, this might seem to indicate that no matter where NOTA appears, lower preferences should be ignored, but such an interpretation would render Section 1, Clause 6 internally contradictory, so I thusly interpret the above quote to mean "if and only if a voter lists NOTA as his or her first preference, that voter's lower preferences must be ignored".

So the answer is no, his vote for NOTA will be ignored due to its not being a first preference, and I will simply move on to the preference below it.

Yes, but he's also won the Mideast. The only other person who'd come out is Dean and he won't vote for me.

As of now, who is going to become President if the results stay the same? Is anyone narrowly trailing the leader?

Also, is there any real way that Afleitch can lose at this point?

If Tweed leans on some more voters, yes.

How many more?

He'd need 8 voters to preference him above afleitch in order to tie. 9 to win.

The current list of who is left to vote is:

Adam, Cheesewhiz, ChuckHagel08, Conan, Dean, Dr. Cynic,  Emsworth, GM3PRP, hughento, ian, James S., jerusalemcar5, Joel, Kevin, Keystone Phil, platypeanArchcow, Virginian87, and WMS

That I do not know, the problem for Tweed supporters is that even if he were to tie, the 2nd and 3rd preference votes heavily favour Afleitch. I think it's pretty much over.
