If 3 out of 5 support I'll sponsor such a program.

If you want to, knock yourself out.  I just think it'll get a very disappointingly small response due to the fact that most people don't have the time to care about 435 politicians.

If we get very little response on the first dozen or so it always can be abandoned.

Just for the sake of keeping this board from getting cluttered I'd say no.

I'm in agreement here.  There is nothing wrong with having a thread on each politician, but in the General Discussion board it might be more of a problem than it is worth.  If you ask Dave, all of these Governor, Senator, Ewok of the day threads could be moved into a childs board, and that way easily referenced by those that are actually interested.  However, do I really care about a Representative from some district in North Dakota?

North Dakota only has one single district, making it actually one of the more notable House positions. Tongue

I can tell I've been following politics just a little too closely when I can name North Dakota's congressman without really thinking about it.

I believe Earl Pomeroy is the only one

Why not one thread per state?  For example, we could discuss all of the Iowa congressmen in the Iowa thread.

Both this and BRTD's idea are actually pretty good.

Well, that would certainly work for a smaller state like Iowa, but one thread for the dozens of congressmen from states like California or Texas might get a bit chaotic.

^^^^^^^

As for states like California, we could break down large states a dozen congresspeople at a time.

I would also be interested in having a discussion about the congressional  district itself in addition to the Congressperson.

Just to put this in perspective; if we went ahead with 435 topics over 435 days, and let's say it started tomorrow, it wouldn't finish until May 2nd 2008.  I predict that we'd all get mighty bored after the first six months, at the latest.

I think a thread for each state would be the best way to go.

Support, but do it state by state or all in 1 thread.

I would do a state at a time, though in a state like California, There are 53 districts, so I would divide into 11 representatives at a time with the fifth thread only have 9.

I would do no more than 10-15 representatives in any one state on a thread.  That means for larger states (California, Texas, New York, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Ohio) I would divide them into equal (or as close to) helpings.

For states with three or fewer districts, I would combine states (up to 10-15 total districts) to make fewer threads.

Also, go in alphabetical order of the states so no states get preferential treatment based on size.

How about a different state delegation each day?

Why not start with states with only one representative and see how that goes?
