Why don't we ban polling?

I find polling to be idiotic since it forces politicans to be all things to all people. That and I'm generally against letting the people have the idea that their opinion matters.

So generally you oppose democracy then right? Those that don't normally vote in the actual election may not think their vote matters but those that do likely place a high value on their vote and feel like their vote matters. So therefore, the majority of people who think they matter probably do matter at least a little since they are the ones who actually vote in the elections.

Mob rule just leads to authoritarianism in the long run. Look at the rise of the religious right in the US.

You're a worse authoritarian than any of them. Just because you want to bring your own subjective views about morality on others with violent means doesn't make y0u any better.

So what if I am one? Unlike the fundies or the social engineering PC left or the jesse jackson/MeCHA minority 'rights'(read: supremacy) activists I am not hypocritical about my dreams for Empire and control.

That just means they're smarter than you. Both Jesse Jackson and the Religious RIght has a lot more power than you have. So you're actually inferior to them by your own standards. But I guess you never thought of that?

Trying so called logic about tpopulist support won't work on me. I'd build my empire over a mountain of skulls and a broken earth if need must. I really could care less about what the people think. Its either now or never for at least some of the west to survive(Europe is lost to Eurabia so no point in trying HERE). I suggest you save your attempts at things like that for people who'd be more likely to fall for it..

We don't ban polling because it's a matter of free speech. Simple.

Yeah, without logic and support you'll get real far in your empire building.

Quoted for truth. It's amazing how quickly Straha started ranting about wanting to take over the world. By his third post, he talks about his dreams of dictatorship. Good stuff.

LOL. Classic Straha.
Worth noting though that some countries do ban publishing polls X amount of days before the election.

I'm not sure if this new tendency to appeal to the apparent inherent evil of Xahar in all things even remotely related to forum policing or this damn game is especially helpful.

In Italy it's illegal to publish polls less than two weeks before an election. In Mexico it's illegal to something like 4-5 days before it. I'm sure there's others.

France has something like that, but it's like one or two days before the vote.

Oh my dear! I found that so hilarious that the tears came...
This said I agree on some points, I also think that our democracies are driving to populism, authoritarianism, and at the end I think the theocracies are really possible, and polls are an important tool of this movement but not the only one. I see it more as a psychological movement of the populations who live in these democracies, a movement caused by a lot of things.

That would be fun.
As long as no one is actually banned because of it.
