It seems that Al Qaeda funder Abdul Tawala Ibn Ali Alishtari  has made thousands of dollars in contributions to the NRCC. Ali Alishtair has also helped out Republican Congressmen like Jim Gerlach, Robin Hayes,  Rick Renzi, Dave Reichert, Barbara Cubin, Charlie Dent and Tim Murphy.

http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2007/02/accused_terrori.html

Imagine this in a 30 second spot: "Republican Congressman X has taken $Y from terrorist helper Abdul Tawala Ibn Ali Alishtari. Congressman X says he's tough on terror, but he won't return his contribution from a terrorist."

This could be a real drag on the GOP in 2008.

And why wouldn't they return the money, exactly?

Imagine how the media would jump on this story if it was the DSCC taking terrorist contributions?  But as it's the NRCC no doubt it will be ignored.

Yet the other side would have everyone think the media has a liberal/Democratic bias

Dave, the liberal media myth is ensconced in the American consciousness like a classic old wive's tale.

I believe it was Josef Goebbels who said, "Repetition is the linchpin of propaganda."  And Hitler who said, "The more ridiculous the lie, the louder you proclaim it and the more frequently you assert it, and the masses will believe."

The liberal media myth may be the best example of this extant today.  At least here in the USA.

Both sides always bitch that the other side runs the media.  It's really quite amusing.

The media (except News Corp and Air America) isn't controlled by liberals or conservatives -- it's controlled by giant corporations with one motivation, making a profit.

Damn double standards. The Republicans ran ads in 2004 that said "10 out of 10 terrorists support Kerry". The Republican party deserves to be eliminated for this double standard. I'd vote Constitution before I voted Republican.

That's a good question.

While that is also true, the fact remains that liberals and conservatives often complain that most of the media is biased against them.  I always find that amusing.

It's not really that hard to see why; a person will take an article that they find agreeable as simply what is expected, while a person will take any article that seems biased against the other side as a travesty of journalistic integrity.  Hence all articles of the second type will be immensely stronger in the person's mind, and their memory will consequently tell them that those are the only kinds of articles that they've ever seen.
