I'm just curious as to how many counties were close enough that a change in votes for Nader going to Gore would have made gore the victor in the given county. In my home state of Washington Gore would have won 2 more counties.

In Kentucky, he would have won a whole bunch, because people hated Bush so much.

I think you misunderstand the question.  I looked it up for you - it's three (Greenup, Lyon and Rowan).

Also Fayette for certain, and probably also Letcher (unless Gore actually carried it anyway).

Incorrect.  Check the results.  Bush won Kentucky by a very comfortable margin, not much would have changed.

In Fayette for example:

Gore   44.8%   47,277

Bush   51.7%   54,495

Nader   2.9%   3,052

No...

Bush got 52.88% in Fayette and 52.96% in Letcher.

You're looking at the 2004 results there, but Bush still got over 50% in Fayette in 2000 too.

Two, Somerset and Ocean. Cape May County would have been absurdly close.

Nader tipped both Travis County to Bush (by obtaining over 10%) and Kleberg County (by obtaining 1.42%)

None. Nader was only on the ballot as a write-in and only gained a significant amount of votes around Clarke County (college town), which went for Gore anyway.

(adding 100% of Nader's tally to Gore's)
Maine - Lincoln, Penobscot, Waldo
NH - Hillsborough, Rockingham
VT - Orange, Orleans
NY - Cortland, Dutchess, Oswego, Otsego, Saratoga
NJ - has been done
PA - none (there's only county that Bush won with under 50% of the vote, Monroe, and he outpolled Gore+Nader by 7 votes there)
OH - Columbiana, Harrison, Stark. Ottawa would be an exact tie

IN - Monroe, unsurprisingly
IL - Marion, Vermilion, Winnebago
MI - Alger, Gladwin, St Clair, Schoolcraft, Shiawassee
WI - 13 counties, which I don't feel like listing. Go to the 2000 results page. All the R40 shade counties except Manitowoc and Wood.
MN - has been done
IA - Fayette, Jasper, Palo Alto, Poweshiek, Warren, Winneshiek
In addition, Hagelin cost Gore Jefferson Co.
MO, ND, NE - none
SD - Nader not on ballot
KS - Atchison, Crawford, Shawnee

Does anyone have the time to list which of these counties voted for Kerry in 2004?

Off the top of my head, I think Travis (TX), Stark (OH), Alpine (CA), and Monroe (IN) did.

Of the top off mine, the Vermont ones, Jefferson IA, Albemarle and Fairfax VA, Missoula, and I'm fairly sure at least some of the Colorado ones.

There was clearly a spot on the Georgia ballot that said "Write in Nader please:"

Cortland
Dutchess
Oswego

Nassau went to Gore by 19.44, so the only impact Nader had was holding Gore to under a 20% victory.

Oregon:

Tillamook County:
George W. Bush   46.66%
Albert Gore Jr.   46.56%
Ralph Nader   4.95%

Clackamas County:
George W. Bush   47.79%
Albert Gore Jr.  47.10%
Ralph Nader  3.92%

I think that is all.
