I generally disapprove of Willie Herenton. He is the epitome of the corrupt, big city politician and very hostile toward the white minority which provides much of the tax base. Nonetheless, I am pleased with his work to revitalize downtown, which had gone to crap since MLK was shot.

He seems like an okay guy, although I don't really know what he does most of the time.

I'll be honest: I don't even know who my mayor is.

Although I've seen signs all over town for the upcoming mayor election (April 17, maybe?), but I don't know which guy mentioned is the incumbent, or even if the incumbent is running.

Approve. Durham's Mayor, Cllr W. J. Lodge, has sat as an Independent on Durham City Council since its creation in 1974. Of course, its a ceremonial rather than an executive office and he only serves as Mayor for one civic year

STRONGLY APPROVE.

everyone else in Missisippi hates her (Mary Hawkins), but that's because they're jealous that she's made Madison the nicest and most high-class and high-income city in Mississippi

PS--I wish there were other Mississippians on here.  They'd call me a Madison elitist and probably hate me.  And I'd hate them back.

Strongly disapprove. I hate him so much. He should never have won in November, but people were afraid to vote for a gay candidate, and instead voted for a twice divorced fool. Ottawa was finally going to get a socially progressive mayor, and then "Mr. Clean" comes from behind and wins.

As you can see, I'm still bitter.

See memphis's statement and apply that to John Street except Ed Rendell helped with downtown Philly and Street just hooks up his buddies.

I don't care. He's a local Democratic hack who only wins because his name's been in the paper for the last ten years. He ran for County Commissioner in '03 and got trounced, losing badly to the two Republicans and other Democrat running. He gets the streets plowed and sandbags out though.

Approve.  My streets get plowed.  He made an effort at community policing and he's worked to hold taxes down.  Has an idiot for a brother.

Jody Smith, wonderful woman, great supporter of.... Everything

Totally on a first name basis with all 50,000 of the pople in this town, is everywhere at any even no matter how small.

She could be mayor until she died if she wants to, she's invincible, shes fended off some bigger names in three elections too...

3 elections ago- The popular incumbent woman, who got involved in a big scandal- De Luca, a large family in the town.

2 elections ago- A relative of Chuck Norris, who lives here.

Last election- Terry Bradshaw's brother, both live here.

Neither celebrity came out in support of thier relation, Mayor smith is just too popular and for good reason.

All the Mayor of Bangor does is ceremonial. From what I know he does an alright job at that.
I strongly disapprove of the ruling group on Gwynedd County Council though.

Could not disapprove more.

Here is a list of things my mayor has done:
  -taken campaign bribes
-given a contract to the company that bribed her allow them build a golf course that if fails, the town picks up the tab
  -Hudsonized Bergen County
-become freeholder and neglected the town
-waste taxpayer dollars putting astroturf in the town square
  -gained at least 100 lbs.
-tried to almost double the town's population with low-income housing

Hopefully we'll finally vote her out this year in Nov

I don't have a mayor.  Just a governing council for the county.

Are those not job requirements for New Jersey mayors?

Strongly disapprove.  She's a bitch and horribly corrupt.  The worst part is that there are two Republican parties in my town (hardly any Democrats) and the good ones are almost completely off the town committee.

The one Republican party that wins every time is completely made up of Rinos.  It's so irritating, but no one actually pays attention to town politics.  They just see that they are endorsed by the GOP and push the button.

If anyone else wants to run as a Republican, they are not allowed and must run as an Independent, thus not receiving many votes.

My dad's really into town politics. Tongue
