i was looking at the old election maps.  i was surprised to see that our old friend al gore pulled a phil bredesen and won every tennessee county!  very impressive. 

im assuming his opponent was a sacrifical lamb.  but winning east tennessee is an impressive feat for a democrat.

I saw that as well.  Its quite striking when you see the Tennessee map in the Presidential results ten years later; that always really annoys me - Gore had no reason to lose his homestate.

if i remember correctly, his book 'earth in balance' came out in 1990.
