I read that Stephanie Herseth, the South Dakota congresswoman, endorsed Bush

Then you read wrong.

I'm pretty certain I read it in the Almanac of American Politics 2006 - apparently she was asked in a candidates' debate.

I also read that

I THINK, but don't quote me on this, he said he would vote for whoever he thought his district would support (but refused to go beyond that).

Be that the case, then Taylor wouldn't need to go beyond that

No, I mean he wouldn't  say who he thought would win the district.

His district hasn't voted for a Democratic Presidential candidate since 1955.

I know, but he could've just said Bush (not that it mattered)

Taylor never publicly endorsed a candidate.  He said if the election went to the House, he'd vote for whoever his district voted.
As for who he voted for in the ballot box, one can only assume Kerry, because saying so might've hurt him in his district, but if he were actually jumping ship he would've said it (and it would've helped him).  Plus if Taylor will vote for Pelosi for speaker he'd surely vote Kerry over Bush.

And I'm definitely sure that Herseth did NOT support Bush in 2004.

No, she didn't. She said that if the election went to the House, she would cast her state's vote for Bush.

...

That she didn't endorse Bush as you've been alleging. Do you honestly not see the difference? She voted for Kerry.

So why aren't you as upset with her as you had been with Cuellar?  Because he didn't try to hide what he ment?

What?

I thought Cuellar endorsed Bush in 2000 but Kerry in 2004?

Okay, I have the book in front of me and will settle this, hopefully.

Ehem...Herseth said she would vote for Bush if the election came to the house (-1 for me)

Cuellar endorsed Bush in 2000 and Kerry in 2004 (-1 for me again)

total: me: -2

          other people: - 0

I have one life left Cheesy , no I did not just lose it!  Or did I?
