Senator Pete Domenici's approval rating has dropped below 60% for the first time in...ever. 

As of 12/3/07 -
APPROVE 57%
DISAPPROVE 35%

His previous rating was 64%-27%.

He'll still win (assuming of course he does not retire) unless this story gets a lot bigger and some much more damning details emerge about Domenici. And I mean a lot. Even then it would requrie top-tier Democrat to defeat him, like Bill Richardson.

Wilson, on the other hand, is as good as gone. I'm sure there will be Democrats lining up around the block for the right to challenge her in '08.

I feared after 2006 we had missed the window of opportunity to take down Wilson. Luckily it appears that isn't the case.

This is the last state where the Republicans want to be playing defense in 2008.  Judging by those numbers Domenici is still pretty safe.  However, if his approval ever drops below 55% or his disapproval rises above 40% he will be in serious trouble.

It's like they've been leading parallel lives!  George Allen had won only one Senate term, narrowly, and Domenici has won only one . . . wait a minute.
